Our Evaluation Services
In partnership with Dr. Douglas Tynan, Ph.D., ABPP, Brandywine Academic Services is pleased to provide psychological and educational testing services for your student. All evaluations are completed personally by Dr. Tynan. We use the latest technology and computer assisted testing materials from Pearson/Psychological Corporation and ASEBA to assure accuracy and up to date services. In addition, there is an emphasis on timely completion: typically three weeks.
When working with outside agencies such as schools or testing services, Dr. Tynan will, with parental permission, provide direct feedback and consult with those agencies.
Comprehensive Psychoeducational (Academic) Testing
When students are having difficulty making progress in school, and accommodations may be helpful to them, testing will help to identify the underlying difficulties and the right interventions. for students, and graduates, who may need testing accommodations, formal psychological and educational testing is often required.
Parents often use gifted testing to gain a better understanding of their child’s strengths, assist them in determining the best preschool or elementary school, or make a request for assessment by their public elementary school for additional services.
Five Steps to Testing
A review of background material, including report cards and other evaluations
An in depth diagnostic interview with the parents, gathering of information about current school functioning and behavior via a secure web based questionnaire for parents and teachers
A formal psychological and educational testing session that is approximately 3 hours long,
A feedback session.
A full written report is delivered to the parents after the feedback session.
Extended Test Time Evaluation:
Standardized Tests & Disability Accommodations
Students with ADHD, ASD,LD, anxiety, and processing issues are often candidates for extended test taking time on standardized entrance examinations such as SATs, PSATs, ACTs, GREs, MCATs, and LSATs. Sanctioning boards generally require evaluations to have been completed within three years of application. Dr. Tynan is a highly qualified, licensed psychologist with over 25 years of experience conducting evaluations that meet the requirements of sanctioning boards, including the Educational Testing Services (ETS). However, it is important to note that while an appropriate evaluation will be conducted, there is no guarantee that a student will qualify for extended time.
